2012 College Hall of Fame Inductees

Picture

The College Football Hall of Fame has announced its 2012 inductees, with 14 players and three coaches set for enshrinement in South Bend on Dec. 4. Jimmy Johnson, R.C. Slocum and Phillip Fulmer are your coaching inductees, while all-time greats Orlando Pace and Tommie Frazier have again failed to make it in.

From the list of 84 candidates that did not include Howard Schnellenberger, Erk Russell or Joe Montana due to arbitrary rules  (coaches must hit a certain career winning percentage, and players must have been elected first-team All-American), the 2012 Hall of Fame class:

  • Art Monk, Syracuse Orange wide receiver, 1976 to 1979.

  • Charles Alexander, LSU Tigers running back, 1975 to 1978.

  • Dave Casper, Notre Dame Fighting Irish tight end, 1971 to 1973.

  • Gabe Rivera, Texas Tech Red Raiders defensive lineman, 1979 to 1982.

  • Greg Myers, Colorado St. Rams safety, 1992 to 1995.

  • Hal Bedsole, USC Trojans split end, 1961 to 1963.

  • Jimmy Johnson, Miami Hurricanes and Oklahoma St. Cowboys coach, 1979 to 1988.

  • John Wooten, Colorado Buffaloes guard, 1956 to 1958.

  • Jonathan Ogden, UCLA Bruins offensive tackle, 1992 to 1995.

  • Mark Simoneau, Kansas St. Wildcats linebacker, 1996 to
    1999.

  • Otis Armstrong, Purdue Boilermakers running back, 1970 to
    1972.

  • Phillip Fulmer, Tennessee Volunteers coach, 1992 to 2008.

  • R.C. Slocum, Texas A&M Aggies coach, 1989 to 2002.

  • Scott Thomas, Air Force Falcons safety, 1982 to 1985.

  • Steve Bartkowski, California Golden Bears quarterback, 1972 to
    1974.

  • Tommy Kramer, Rice Owls quarterback, 1973 to 1976.

  • Ty Detmer, BYU Cougars quarterback, 1988 to 1991.

Last year's class was headlined by Michigan Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr, Florida St. Seminoles cornerback Deion Sanders,
and Miami Hurricanes defensive tackle Russell Maryland. Here's a list of all previous inductees, while we're at it.
